Planning and Zoning

Planning a project? The Lanesboro Zoning Ordinance states:

No person shall erect, add onto, remove, demolish, or move any kind of structure or building or part thereof without first securing a Building Permit from the Zoning Administrator.

Building permits can be found below, as well as in person at the City Office.  Simply complete the application and submit the permit, along with any applicable fees to the City Office. The permit will then be reviewed by the City Administrator, Planning & Zoning, and Historic Preservation as necessary.

Permit fees are based on the total cost of the project as follows:

Cost of Project Permit Fee
Up to $500 $10
$501 to $3,000 $20
$3,001 to $10,000 $50
$10,000 to $30,000 $100

Thinking of operating a business out of your home? There is a permit required to do so. The home occupation application must be filled out and returned to the City Office along with the fee of $100. The application will then be reviewed by Planning & Zoning, as well as the City Council.
