Lanesboro, MN (1:00 p.m.) — The City of Lanesboro is notifying residents that Lanesboro and surrounding areas in Fillmore County remain under a Flood Warning until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Local law enforcement has reported ongoing flooding across the warned area due to 4 to 8 inches of rainfall that occurred overnight. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, avoid flooded roadways, and monitor changing conditions throughout the day.
At this time, the Riverview Campground is closed and will remain closed until further notice due to rising water levels and flood-related safety concerns.
Additionally, Sylvan Park Campground will close at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Campers and visitors are encouraged to make arrangements to vacate the campground prior to its closure and follow any instructions provided by city staff.
According to river observations, the South Branch Root River at Lanesboro was measured at 10.44 feet at 11:30 a.m., which is considered Action Stage. Current forecasts indicate the river is expected to crest at approximately 15.2 feet at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026. This level is classified as Minor Flood Stage, where there may be minimal or no property damage but a potential threat to public safety.
